Identifying and Addressing Microaggressions
Microaggressions are subtle verbal, behavioral, and environmental expressions that serve to derogate or exclude individuals based on their marginalized identities. These commonplace occurrences often go unrecognized by those who enact them but have significant effects on those who receive them. This webinar will introduce audience members to the concept of microaggressions; the research on racial, ethnic, gender, and sexual orientation microaggressions and their detrimental impact on mental and physical health; and ways to intervene effectively when a microaggression is recognized.
This webinar is eligible for up to one hour of continuing education for psychologists. AFCC is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists.
