Clients with personality disorders often attack those trying to help them and sabotage their own best efforts. This session will focus on identifying potential personality-disordered clients and adapting strategies for working with them. This will include: the WEB Method℠ for quickly identifying them, the four biggest mistakes to avoid and four skills for managing them with compassion and respect, while emphasizing their future choices and setting limits. Sample cases will be presented to explain how these methods can work.
Bill Eddy, LCSW, CFLS, is a lawyer (Certified Family Law Specialist), therapist (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) and mediator (Senior Family Mediator at the National Conflict Resolution Center). He is the Training Director of the High Conflict Institute, based in San Diego. He has presented in over 30 states and eight countries. Mr. Eddy is the author of several books, including: High Conflict People in Legal Disputes, 2nd Ed and Splitting: Protecting Yourself While Divorcing Someone with Borderline or Narcissistic Personality Disorder.
